Poetic Letters #002
Why I am doing this, more photography and more poetry, a little gift and much more
Hey,
Thank you for taking the time to read what I’m about to share with you.
In this letter I’m talking about why I’m doing this and where I’m going, more previews of the photography I’ve been working on and more poetry in anticipation of my print book. I’ll also share with you what I’ve been reading, an exclusive unedited poem, an update on the book progress and more.
I hope you enjoy it.
Andrea
Why am I doing this?
Glad you asked!
Firstly, because now is time for me to share what I create more and more. I will share what I create more, with more people and on more mediums, and hopefully I will be able to reach you too, sooner or later, no matter where you prefer to read poetry or enjoy art!
Secondly, this publication is a great way for me to offer you a place where to read in peace, receive this little piece of my world directly into your inbox, and maybe a great way to stay away from social medias.
That’s my next reason: getting you and myself away from social medias. As annoying as it is, we live in a world were SM are a powerful tool to reach people, and that’s where I’ve started sharing my stuff too. And, there are other tools too, like this one, allowing us to take care of our headspace, keep updated on something or someone we love in different, more healthy ways. And I like this more.
Besides, I don’t like the idea that a corporate controls how I can reach people. In here, we are closer than on social medias and I will be able to reach you as long as I write. And you are able to get back to me too, please do!
The last reason, is to support myself and my art, so that I can keep doing this, for mine AND your enjoyment. This publication will always have free content and paid content.
The free content will be a selection of older works, other art projects outside of poetry, or something I’m about to launch.
The paid content will be exclusive previews, more personal notes, behind the scenes and early access to new pieces, pre-orders and other super fresh projects. This at less than the cost of a coffee per letter.
Art is a fundamental piece of this world and of my world, it should be accessible for everyone and also I believe it has value worth paying for. I hope you do too.
Photography
I’m slowly dripping out to you some of the photos I’ve been taking in the last two years. Photography has been a friend of mine since I was a child and recently I started playing with it again to complement the poetry you will find in the book. All are black and white and on film.
All available for prints on request, signed and limited edition.
Poems from the book
Here is a selection of poems you will find also in my print book.
~ Heart ~
You want it but you don’t know why You grab it but it slips away You share it but it’s a lie You use it but you don’t know how You beg but you can’t cry You can’t have it ‘cos she’s a fire I‘d tell you the way But she can only be mine
~ Mermaid ~
Your eyes are like a siren’s song If I keep listening In your ocean I’ll drown
~ Exception ~
You’re perfect as you are Imperfect like everybody else Except you’re the only one Who truly sees that in yourself
~ Game ~
When you look at me You do it with defence When you talk You try to impress Every movement under control Every thought too fast to hold But there’s a moment Where all becomes still You look down at your hands Soft eyes, forgetting the thrill In a split second you come back Not knowing what you just did Starting all over Playing your part In just that moment You showed All of your heart
~ Little P ~
There’s a piano playing I can see her dancing I’m looking at the phone All I want is that ringtone
A little gift
This is one of my favourite songs I use when I write, generally at night. If I write in the morning is either quiet or different kind of music.
Hope you like it and maybe it will inspire some creation for you too.
